FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), organised an awareness session on corporatisation, licensing and regulatory reforms at the FESCO Regional Training Centre.
SECP Additional Joint Registrar Khurram Shehzad attended the session as chief guest and briefed participants on key aspects of corporatisation, modern licensing systems and regulatory reforms.
Mr Shehzad explained the basic principles and benefits of corporatisation, highlighting its role in strengthening governance, clearly defining institutional responsibilities and aligning organisational operations with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
He also discussed modern licensing mechanisms and relevant legal and regulatory requirements, stressing the role of digitalisation in making licensing procedures more accessible, transparent and efficient.
Speaking on regulatory reforms, Mr Shehzad emphasised initiatives aimed at creating a transparent business environment, reducing unnecessary regulatory barriers and improving institutional efficiency.
The session also covered practical aspects of the issues under discussion, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session during which participants sought clarification on various regulatory matters.
FESCO Company Secretary Muzaffar Abbas, Deputy Company Secretary and Deputy Director Training Sajjad Haider Awan and other officials attended the session.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Abbas said such awareness programmes were important for strengthening departmental capacity, improving consumer understanding and promoting awareness of relevant laws and regulations.
At the conclusion, Mr Abbas thanked Mr Shehzad for his participation and guidance. He said FESCO would continue organising informative and training programmes to enhance awareness and capacity among consumers and relevant stakeholders and support institutional improvement.
